The refurbishment project is now well underway at Merthyr, with upgrades including new AHU (Air Handling Unit) installation. The new AHU will help to lower energy usage and improve the ventilation within the pool area. Please see some images of the progress so far here.
Work is underway to bring swimming facilities at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre back into public use following a £6 million investment by Merthyr Tydfil Borough Council.
When open, the recommissioned facilities will provide residents with a 25m, 6 lane main pool, a dedicated teaching pool offering a full swimming education programme plus a new splash pool designed to inspire water confidence and deliver engaging sensory experiences for toddlers. The changing facilities will also be updated and redesigned to improve the overall visitor experience.
Over the next few months, the council will be sharing the plans and ideas for the lesiure pools with the local community.
